AUBURN-BASED MORSE BROTHERS BOUGHT BY PORTLAND COMPANY
Morse Brothers Inc., a family-owned company that manufactures bark mulch, has been bought by M.B. Bark LLC, a division of Scarborough-based CPRC Group. PORTLAND, ME -- Morse Brothers Inc., a family-owned company that manufactures bark mulch, has been bought by M.B. Bark LLC, a division of Scarborough-based CPRC Group. M.B. Bark LLC bought the assets of Morse Brothers, Inc. after the company began bankruptcy proceedings. "Our goal is to maintain the bulk mulch business that Morse Brothers built during the past 30 years and expand the operation by utilizing the equipment and transportation facilities on the Auburn site as part of a broader natural resource recovery system," said John Adelman, president and CEO of CPRC Group. Located on 213 acres along Lewiston Junction Road, the Auburn site contains a 156-acre DEP licensed facility for processing wood waste, including the manufacture of bark mulch. According to Adelman, the site produces more than 100,000 tons of bark mulch each year. Morse Brothers bulk products include mulches made from the bark of Hemlock, Pine, Spruce and Eastern Cedar trees. "The facility offers a number of possibilities, which when fully leveraged will ensure that we can increase the job opportunities that workers in the Auburn area expect," said Adelman. CPRC Group also is the parent company of Commercial Paving & Recycling Company. CPRC Group operates a Gibson Road facility in Scarborough as well as the Riverside transfer station for the city of Portland. |
